Worthing Crocman

That's one small step for man; one giant leap for Worthing Crocman !!

This will be my last blog before leaving on my holidays,yes,we're off to Italy for a week,staying near the banks of Lake Maggiore ... I wonder what what else will we be up to ?

Oh yes One week TODAY (!!),Andy Headworth (aka Worthing Crocman) and our youngest daughter Bethany (16) will be throwing themselves off the Verzasca Dam,pretending to be 007 James Bond !!

The bungee jump is being done to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research in memory of David Headworth,Andy's brother,who sadly died of the disease in December 2007 after an eight month battle.

We set up a 'Forget Me Not Fund' in Davids name and try to raise as much money as possible each year,to try to help other families going through the same as us.

Yikes !!! Only three weeks to go ........

Three weeks tomorrow my husband of 21 years Andy Headworth and our 16 year old daughter Bethany, will be throwing themselves of a very,very high dam in Switzerland !! Why ? I hear you ask ...... Well,in December 2007 we lost Andys brother,David, and Uncle to Bethany and her older sister Kelly, to the horrible illness Leukaemia .

He was only diagnosed in the April of that year,just before his 40th birthday. He had got engaged to Marlynne,the love of his life,and they were expecting their first baby in the August (Dara was born on August 10th-he will be three this year and David got to spend four months with him) He had a hell of a fight on his hands and one that he fought bravely right to the end (he even managed a laugh with Andy just before he died,always joking ...)
From that day we vowed to help anyone who was going through the same as David and our family, to raise as much money as possible for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research,so that they can do as much research into this killer disease and fund a cure.

The year after David's death,Kelly did the Leukaemia Research Bikeathon in London,last year Andy dressed as a giant crocodile and jumped off Worthing Pier in the Worthing Birdman Competition

 

So this year ,to go one better Andy (hopefully wearing the Crocman suit,but not the head,for safety reasons) and Bethany are going  to do the Goldeneye bungee jump at the Verzsace Dam in Switzerland ! Now,I don't know about you,but I reckon that deserves a sponsor or two !!

Punk Rock HR is one of the top HR blogs in the USA, written by mine and Andy's good friend Laurie Ruettimann. We had the pleasure of meeting her when she attended TRU London earlier this year,and although she didn't have a great experience in London ( her handbag and wallet were stolen,along with her passport),she still kept smiling !

The Goldeneye Bungee jump ... yikes !!!!

This is just a quick post ,have been very busy lately,to remind you what Andy Headworth and our youngest daughter Bethany are going to be doing on July 21st at The Verzasca Dam - I don't know about you,but I think it takes balls to do this and think a lot of sponsor money should be raised !!

All the money is being raised for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research in memory of Andy's brother David who died at the age of 40,leaving a baby son Dara and wife Marlynne. 

So,go on ....give us you're money !!
